A Slasher Theater Weekly Top 10: Horror Movie Posters

What is a good horror movie without it's equally mesmerizing poster?

Up until recently, horror movie posters were beautifully made pieces of artwork that could just as easily be put up in a gallery instead of a movie theater, however, with advances in technology and graphic design, the horror movie poster has become a dead art form. 

And so, with this week's top 10, Slasher Theater pays tribute to the horror movie poster and revives the tradition of real art that goes hand in hand with great films.

Friday the 13th's poster is a perfect example of how great a film's poster artwork can be and is a perfect way to kick off this countdown. The piece keeps the mystery of the killer alive while also capturing the isolated loneliness of the woods of Camp Crystal Lake.

Silent Night Deadly Night's poster is the perfect holiday themed piece for the perfect holiday themed slasher.  You can't go wrong with this kick-ass poster and both of it's kick-ass taglines.

House is a great horror-comedy about spooks and specters that this poster goes along very well with.

A classic poster for a classic film. A Nightmare on Elm Street, along with most of the other films in the series, has an awesome poster that captures the overall nightmarish tone of the film.

Fright Night is a great vampire film and this poster bares its fangs and guarantees that "if you love being scared, it'll be the night of your life".

Sam Raimi's Army of Darkness poster is one of the most iconic horror movie images of all time. Although many people who aren't horror fans may not recognize the movie itself, tons of people have seen the poster and may even recognize it from other films. The poster is similar to that of the 1981 film Heavy Metal and manages to capture every element of the crazy film.
