Stephen King announces blood-sucking sequel to "The Shining"

Finally, something to write about!

It appears the "King" of horror has a new book in the works, titled Dr. Sleep, and while that alone is pretty big news, this book is allegedly a sequel to his 1977 masterpiece, The Shining. However, supposedly, this book will revolve around a group of traveling vampires.

Now, if you're like me, you're probably thinking to yourself Vampires? How does that fit in?

Well, so far all that king has announced, via his official website is "It's now official--Stephen is working on Dr. Sleep, the sequel to The Shining.  This weekend Steve read an excerpt from this at his appearance at George Mason University. Dr. Sleep's plot includes a traveling group of vampires called The Tribe which is part of the passage he read from."

I happen to love Stephen King and know he'll do a great job with this sequel to an amazing horror novel, however, as much as I don't want to believe it, it's not hard to think that perhaps the inclusion of vampires in this new work is a result of the whole Twilight/True Blood vampire craze that's currently plaguing the country. Only time will tell.

For now, you can check out the excerpt he read at George Mason University right here:
